David Nipo (born in Brazil, 1964)
David Nipo was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He immigrated to Israel in 1969. In 1983-1997 he worked in set and prop design for the Israeil film Industry. In the late 1990s, he studied painting with Israel Hershberg. In 2005, he and Aram Gershuni established Hatahana Studio for Figurative Painting and Drawing in Tel Aviv. Nipo lives and works in Moshav Nir Akiva in the Negev.
Nipo paints mainly in oils. His themes are traditional – landscape and still life, and his style is hyperrealist. Since 2010, his work has become increasingly symbolic, with references to Western art history.
